Welcome to the People of Faith for Peace Website.

We—call us Poffpeace—are individual activists from many faiths in the Oregon-Washington area, working to help bring peace to our world by encouraging individual and organized peacemakers from any congregation to connect with one another.

Since we began, we have been encouraging congregations and individuals to get involved in events and activities that we believe have or should have a faith/spirit dimension. Right now, we are busy with:

Veterans’ Bridge Fund Project provides severely troubled veterans of the Iraq and Afghan wars with small, one-time, emergency “bridge fund” grants helping them reconnect with community. The fund allows any congregation, regardless of attitudes about peace and war to help men and women veterans who are in need. We invite congregations to make a small step toward peace by collecting and contributing modest amounts of cash to the project. PoffPeace and prime sponsor, St. Luke Lutheran Church, ensure that the funds are spent as intended. Find out how you and your congregation can act for peace here: .

Peace Lamp Celebrations The small, brass peace lamp pictured below is being shared by congregations in the metropolitan area in a cooperative, rolling peace vigil. Each interested congregation schedules the lamp for inclusion in its religious life however it chooses. The lamp has been included in special holy days celebrations, regular services, special peace events, interfaith services and more. The lamp is physically passed by peacemakers in one congregation to peacemakers in the next. Most discover that the people they meet are as dedicated in their peace witness as you are and can be very interesting besides. Sometimes peacemaker links decide to visit the service at the connecting congregations to see how the lamp is used and received there. Find out how you can schedule the lamp and receive suggestions for its use at: .
